Caring for your Pete Sorensen

SUEDE, VELVET SUEDE AND NUBUCK SHOE CARE
- Dust your shoes with a soft natural bristle brush.
- Spray a colorless suede waterproofer from a good brand (Saphir, Famaco, Grison, Collonil) about thirty centimeters from the shoe.
- Let them air dry for half an hour, away from any heat source, before lightly brushing them again, following the nap.
For light stains, rub gently with a suede eraser.
For ingrained stains, a little soapy water can be effective.
Greasy suede stains should be cleaned with Fuller's Earth.
LEATHER SHOE CARE
- Brush the leather of your shoes to remove dust.
- Use a clean, soft cloth.
- Apply a small amount of cleaning milk to the leather with the cloth in light circular motions until absorbed, then let dry away from a heat source for at least 30 minutes.
- Shine your shoes with a soft cloth, rubbing each shoe vigorously and alternately.
- Waterproof your shoes outdoors then let them air dry for at least 10 minutes.
For deeper cleaning, a damp cloth and saddle soap are effective.
CARING FOR YOUR PATENT LEATHER PETE SHOES
Apply a suitable oil in a thin layer, let dry, then buff with a chamois cloth.
IN CASE OF RAIN
If your shoes have been caught in the rain, dry them with newspaper inside, away from any heat source. The paper will absorb the moisture. Once the leather is dry, waterproof them.
THE 6 GOLDEN RULES
1. Don't wait until the leather is stained before cleaning them.
2. Always clean both shoes systematically and completely to avoid discrepancies in shade or halos.
3. Use quality products (Saphir, Famaco, Grison, Collonil).
4. Waterproof your shoes after each cleaning. This creates a protective film against moisture, stains, and pollution.
5. Use shoe trees to maintain their shape over time.
6. Avoid wearing the same shoes too often, for the health of your feet as well as your shoes.
